About Complexion Science Lab
Separating skincare myths from evidence-based science. Our mission is to decode the ingredients that truly transform your skin.
Our Story
Complexion Science Lab was founded on a simple observation: millions of people spend billions of euros on skincare products every year, yet most have no idea what ingredients actually work. Between celebrity endorsements, conflicting beauty advice, and marketing hype, the signal-to-noise ratio in skincare is abysmal.
We began as a small team of dermatologists, chemists, and science communicators in Oulu, Finland. Our goal was to create a reliable resource that cuts through the noise—a publication dedicated to explaining which skincare ingredients have real evidence behind them, how they work at the molecular level, and why some combinations are more effective than others.
Today, our editorial team continues this mission by reviewing peer-reviewed research, interviewing skincare experts, and translating complex biochemistry into language that makes sense. We're not here to sell you products. We're here to help you make informed decisions about your skin based on actual science.
From retinol to hyaluronic acid, from peptides to antioxidants—we investigate the evidence, explain the mechanisms, and empower you to understand what's really happening when you apply something to your skin.

Why We're Different
Evidence-First Approach
We don't write about what's trendy or what brands want us to promote. Every ingredient we discuss has supporting clinical or in-vitro evidence from peer-reviewed journals. No exceptions.
No Sponsored Content
We are independent journalists. We never accept product sponsorships, affiliate commissions, or ads from skincare brands. Our credibility is our only product.
Deep Dives, Not Headlines
Skincare deserves more than clickbait. Our articles explore how retinol affects collagen production, why peptides matter, and how antioxidants in cosmetics actually protect skin at a cellular level.
